Work has started on one of the first sites to be developed by Sheffield Housing Company, a consortium of Sheffield City Council, Great Places Housing Group and Keepmoat Homes.

Cllr Harry Harpham, Sheffield Council Cabinet Member for housing said: “We need a lot more affordable homes to rent and buy in Sheffield so I'm delighted that even in a time of economic hardship, we're able to find innovative ways to build houses in areas where regeneration is needed the most.

“The investment into new housing in Sheffield is also a real boost for the city's local economy because it means new construction jobs and apprenticeships for local people.”

Work has now begun at Falstaff, an area of Parson Cross. The development is called Brearley Forge, named after Harry Brearley, inventor of stainless steel in Sheffield
